Behrens studied painting and in his first professional steps, framed in the current Art Nouveau, he worked as a painter, advertising artist and photographer. However, after a few years he abandoned painting and devoted himself to the design of jewelry, furniture and glass and porcelain objects, just as he began to practice architecture. He quickly begins to develop a very austere geometric style, which over time would become a modern paradigm of design disciplines. In its beginnings in the industrial production it based its work on the functional needs of the devices.
