The period of Roman Peace following the end of the Final War of the Roman Republic. The Pax Romana directly followed the rule of Augustus Caesar, so it is sometimes referred to as Pax Augusta. Augustus wanted to show his people that success was achievable without needing to win a war, that they could be victorious in things other than war, as well. (2.2)
