The Intolerable Acts (31 marzo 1774 anni – 4 lugl 1776 anni)

Descrizione:

- Laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the event of the Boston Tea Party a year earlier.
- Referred to as the Coercive Acts by the British.
- The acts included:
1. The Boston Port Act, which closed the Boston Port until the damages for the Boston Tea Party were paid (March 31, 1774).
2. The Massachusetts Government Act, which restricted Massachusetts’ town meetings and turned the governor's council into a chosen person (May 20th, 1774).
3. The Administration Of Justice Act, which made British officials immune to criminal prosecution in Massachusetts (May 20th, 1774).
4. The Quartering Act, which required colonists to house British troops on demand, sometimes in their own home (June 2nd, 1774). And finally, 5. The Quebec Act, which let Catholics worship more freely in Canada (June 22, 1774).
- Was never repealed by the British until the Americans gained independence.
