The Atlantic Slave trade did not have a major impact on the Ivory Coast as it did many other African Coastal regions. While slavery was a normal practice within the country, it did not export slaves so easily. The Ivory Coast was so named for it's mass trading of Ivory. Internal slavery usually took the form of the capture of northern peoples who were then transported to the larger cities of the south.
