Germany annexed Alsace and Lorraine in settlement, FR pais large indemnity, accepted German administration of Paris and norther France until indemnities are paid.

GE's strategy vis-a-vis FR is now to isolate it while maintaining good relations with other states. Led to GE warming up to AU and RU and the Dreikaiserbund in 1873
