Greek revolutionaries, supported by the Russian Empire, the Kingdom of France, and United Kingdom [as well as their protectorate in the Ionian Isles]. While the initial conflict looked to be turning out in Turkish favor, The Great Powers rivaling the Ottomans sent naval support in the conflict.

After over eight years of war, Greece was recognized as an independent, sovereign state under the Treaty of Constantinople; which defined this new Greek state as; Continental Greece, the Peloponnese peninsula, and the Saronic, Cyclades, and Sporades Islands.
