This was the first major battle in Islamic history. It took place near the city of Badr. This battle was between the Muslims of Medina and the Quraysh of Mecca. This battle happened because the Quraysh wanted to stop the expansion of the Muslim power and protect caravans but the muslims wanted to defend their people due to the persecution in Mecca. The Muslims were highly outnumbered, but had won the battle
