Note: From the Iranian POV, the revolution overthrew the Pahlavi dynasty and replaced the imperial state of Iran with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Previously, the United States had assumed 40% of profits from Iran’s oil production. This control made Iran an opponent of the Soviet Union.
Support: The Imperial State of Iran was initially funded by the United States, which lost interest during the Vietnam War.
