Shortwave radios pick up a transmission from Wales. It is a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Nearer, My God, to Thee. Breaking glass and snarling are heard in the background before a final: "Goodbye all!" A recording of this rendition becomes an international smash hit. A large portion of the profits are donated to the British Survivors Fund, set up during the crisis.
