Great

Dead
843 - 863 (1 gen 843 anni – 1 gen 863 anni)
Descrizione:
12 days after the eruption of Mount Tonjok, the volcano's ashes reach Leyatalantu, thankfully being stopped in the Talantu Mountains and not spreading to the rest of Fanj.
Liyanu II was warned of Mount Tonjok's eruption on the day the plague began by the astromancers of the House of Stars, who had read the worst omens in recorded history in the stars the night before. 12 days of frantic preparation followed.
The war was an agonizingly slow slog of splitting great hordes into smaller ones using fast-moving light cavalry, luring them into mountain valleys and canyons, trapping them in those places, and firing down at the undead with as many cannons as Leyatalantu could afford to make.
Gunpowder shortages, mass panic, constant outbreaks in fortified major cities, massive hordes making swathes of the countryside off-limits, and the simple physical difficulty of removing the ash all drew the war out for two decades.
In the end, the last horde was split up and buried under thousands upon thousands of tons of rock in the Talantu Mountains, in 863.
Leyatalantu survived and won against the undead - millions perished, the economy was devastated, and the Empire had spent all the strength of its golden age on the fight for survival.
Nevertheless, Leyatalantu survived, having been lucky enough to be at the very zenith of its power when the plague reached its lands. The Empire would recover, and the hard-won, bloody lessons of the Great War of the Living Dead would not be forgotten.
Liyanu, for one, who invented many of the anti-undead tactics that helped win the war, became an imperial hero as revered as Esdar I and Tazmar the Magnificent. He was named the 'Lichbreaker', and his tomb sits by the side of Esdar's and Tazmar's in the Obsidian Mausoleum.
