Massive ice sheets expanded across large parts of the Northern Hemisphere, drastically altering landscapes, sea levels (which were much lower), and forcing both humans and animals to adapt and migrate. This global climate event had profound international consequences for human populations and their distribution. The lower sea levels, for instance, created land bridges that may have facilitated movement between continents or islands.
