Daniel 11:10 (1 gen 225 anni a. C. – 1 gen 187 anni a. C.)

Descrizione:

Dan 11:10  But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.

“His sons” = the sons of Seleucus II Callinicus:
Seleucus III Ceraunus (reigned 225–223 BCE)

Antiochus III the Great (reigned 223–187 BCE)

Seleucus III Ceraunus:
Tried to regain lost territory in Asia Minor and Coele-Syria (areas taken by Ptolemy III).

His reign was short and unsuccessful—he was assassinated in 223 BCE during a campaign.

Antiochus III the Great:
Took the throne at age 18 and revived Seleucid power.

Launched a massive campaign to retake Coele-Syria from the Ptolemies.

Advanced with a large army—just as Daniel said: "assemble a multitude of great forces.”

He swept through Syria and Palestine, winning battles and pushing into Ptolemaic territory—matching “shall overflow and pass through.”

Eventually reached Gaza and other strongholds—“carry the war as far as his fortress.”

Context:
These wars were part of the Fourth Syrian War (219–217 BCE).

This sets up the next verses, where Ptolemy IV Philopator (King of the South) strikes back and temporarily halts Antiochus’s advance.
