Starting in the summer of year 579, the imperial rail system is constructed. The purpose of the rail system was to satisfy the growing demands of a bloated imperial heartland by facilitating the rapid transport of slaves, resources, and information.

The rail system spans throughout the Empire, and unimaginable amounts of wealth and human lives are poured into the project. The imperial treasury never fully recovers from the expenses. Construction only finishes 99 years later, in 678.

Following the construction of the rail system and its immense cost, the nobility and legions alike began to distrust future Emperors, while tensions between the two factions slowly grew as they competed for power in the imperial government.

The Empire would eventually be weakened by economic mismanagement and political instability, which began shortly after the rail system was finished, when the full cost of building the railways became known to the public.
