Due to the Supreme Court of Israel plans to evict six Palestinian families in East Jerusalem from a Palestinian neighborhood, protests spark resulting in the throwing of stones by Palestinians at Israeli police who then respond by storming a mosque with the use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and stun grenades. This leads to an eruption of protests.

Hamas calls for the withdrawal of Israeli security forces, but is met with silence. They respond by launching rockets into Israel, hitting some residences and a school. Israel responds with an airstrike campaign in Gaza, destroying schools hospitals, high-rises, and homes. Over 200 Palestinians are killed and over 10 Israelis. A majority of the Palestinians killed are civilians (66 of which are children). More than 72,000 Palestinians are displaced.

Hamas is the first to call for a ceasefire, but PM Netanyahu of Israel refuses. US President Joe Biden helps to mitigate peace and restoring aid and diplomatic contact with Palestine. The ceasefire is shortlived.
