After the Russian Revolution, there was a rise of capitalistic loathing. At this point, the Soviet Union and United States were the largest global superpowers. However, they had opposing views on history, society, politics, and international relations.

Extension of Communism to Asia: North Korean invasion of South Korea (1950), Vietnam attempts to unify the North and South, Afghanistan.

The Cold War did not reach to become a nuclear war, but it peaked at the Cuban Missile Crisis. This race to become the most nuclear-ly powerful was a rapid advancement. The world went from a few to 60,000 nuclear weapons.

The Soviet Union supported decolonization and anti-colonial movements, such as in South Africa, Mozambique, Vietnam, and Cuba. The U.S. supported nations that were fearful of communist rule, such as Iron, the Phillipines, Guatemala, El Salvador, Chile, and the Congo. In Indonesia, they gained Soviet aid, but it didn't prevent the removal of their communist part in 1965.

Stalin's actions and crimes discouraged many communist nations. This caused revolts in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Poland. This East side had more conflict than the West side.
