Rosa Parks was a woman that played a big role in civil rights activism in the USA. She is known for an act in 1955, when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man. At that time, the Jim Crow laws made it illegal for black people to sit in certain places in the bus. She was arrested for this, which caused many people to involve themselves in the fight against unfair treatment. People started the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which was a protest where people stopped using the bus. Martin Luther King jr. was an important person that helped lead this boycott. This boycott showed how powerful people could become when people came together.

Rosa Parks is often called the "mother of the civil rights movement" because she had an important role in the fight for equality. Her courage still inspires people to stand up for justice and to fight for unfair treatment.
