Jim Crow laws (1 gen 1876 anni – 1 gen 1965 anni)
Descrizione:
After the American Civil War, the Reconstruction era helped African Americans for a while. They for example got more opportunities to improve their lives, but it did not last long. In the end of the 19th century, the Southern states created Jim Crow laws. These laws forced white and black people to use different places, for example at the buses and schools. People often said that it was "separate but equal", however the places for black people were often worse. African Americans faced unfair treatment and challenges in their daily lives because of these laws. For many years, Jim Crow laws made it difficult for African Americans to succeed and live in the USA.
