Duke Hugo I (Later King Hugo I 'The Great') of Pepperidge (Later Heilig) ruled for an astonishing 79 years. He would be remembered as a unifier, a scholar, and a great diplomat who unified his realm through just conquest and tactful negotiation. He was able to secure the 5 main regions that would come to encompass the Kingdom of Heilig.
* The Duchy of Pepperidge was inherited by right of duel.
* The Margravate of Chernebog was created after the sale of the Crucible lands to Hugo.
* The Archduchy of Neris was inherited through the premature death of one of Hugo's sons who had it bequeathed to him by jure uxoris.
* The Duchy of Borea was vassalized willingly
*The Petty Kingdom of The Yellow Coast was conquered.
Under his rule, Heilig also ruled as far as the Voivodeship of Zoi to the east, and as far south as The Emirate of Oltremare. Despite his long and storied reign brining prosperity to the kingdom, it also led to instability as he had outlived all of his direct children, leading to the splitting of the realm amongst his over 40 grandchildren.
