Federal gov took a maximal approach to defending frontier settlements from raiding by the NW Confederacy, raising massive armies. Suffer two humiliating defeats, but ultimately force the Confederacy to retreat. British traders supply Indigenous combatants with firearms, but abandon the proxy conflict and turn away fleeing Confederacy soldiers at Fort Miami in 1794, effectively ending the war.
