Some leaders of the INC were against the calling off of the non-cooperation movement such as Motilal Nehru, C. R. Das and N. C. Kelkar. They formed a new party know as the Swaraj party and were known as Swarajists. In 1923, they chose to run for the elections and won 42 out of 101 seats.
