福建晋江人，曾任德化县县令，是北宋名相曾公亮的祖父。其子有会、愈、介、俅、休等等。他对儿子历来严加管教，且自立约法三章：一是告诫儿子不得表露家父县官身份，二是不好逸恶劳，三是不拿取他人赠物，以此养成“清约自持”的品德。
