Rule of the 30 Tyrants (1 gen 404 anni a. C. – 1 gen 403 anni a. C.)
Descrizione:
The thirty tyrants were thirty commissioners appointed by Sparta as part of the Spartan imposed oligarchy that had ruled over Athens after the Athenian surrender of Peloponnesian War. The oligarchy were extreme conservatives that had caused a purge within Athens where Athenians were killed, exiled and private property were confiscated leading to the death of 1500 citizens. The rule of the 30 tyrants came to an end when surviving Athenians had banded together to exile the 30 tyrants that fled and were eventually killed, restoring democracy to Athens
