Descrizione:

The sophists were professional teachers and intellectuals who specialised in one or more subjects including philosophy, rhetoric, music or athletics in return for a fee. The sophists taught predominantly to young noblemen, where the sophists taught ideas of arete (virtue or excellence). However, the Sophists had faced major criticism from individuals such as Isocrates and Plato stating the Sophists had used exaggerations, were charging fees for an exaggerated teaching and corrupting the youth.
