The Ionian invasion (1 gen 499 anni a. C. – 1 gen 494 anni a. C.)
Descrizione:
The Ionian Invasion occurred due to the Ionian Greeks revolting against the Persian empire due to the Ionians being discontent under the Persians rule. Ionia had been under Persian ruling in 540 BCE which was highly unfavoured amongst the Ionians which led to discontent with factors such as heavy taxations, oppressive ruling and a desire for autonomy. However, the Persian army had defeated the Ionians and were punished for rebelling against the Persians. The Persians had also captured Miletus, the centre of the revolt, and enslaved or killed it’s people which served as a harsh example to other city states.
