Union Generals: Army of Potomac
Winfield Scott: the brains, created Anaconda Plan
Irvin McDowell: loses 1st battle of Bull Run (fired), created army of Potomac
McClellan: very good at getting men disciplined, but doesn’t believe in fighting
Loses against Stonewall Jackson, fired
Ambrose Burnside: not a great leader, better at following orders
George Meade: very lucky at Gettysburg
McClellan (again!): same thing as first time, Lincoln calls him “the slows,” repairs the army after Gettysburg
Ulysses S. Grant: very offensive/relentless, loses thousands of Northern soldiers, nicknamed “The Butcher” bc he always sent troops and they would die alot

Confederate Generals:
Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson: soldiers form a wall, wins 1st Battle of Bull Run, dies from gangrene
George Pickett: Gettysburg, Pickett’s Charge (1.5 miles miles of ppl marching; they all have to funnel into one spot and just kinda die)
Nathan Bedford Forest: doesn’t lose a single battle; kills everyone instead of taking prisoners
Robert E. Lee: stopped John Brown’s raid at Harpers Ferry
Only union general to secede and join CSA
