While the messages of rebuilding the temple in the book of Haggai overlaps with the book of Zechariah based on the same themes, the book of Haggai offers reassurances of God’s presence when it comes to rebuilding their temple. Haggai’s message to the Judeans, Zerubbabel, and Joshua are filled with encouragement to return to the Lord and rebuild his temple, including blessing on the defiled people. The Book of Haggai ends with the Lord declaring that he will shake the heavens and the earth and fight their enemies, choosing Zerubbabel as the next leader.
