It was fought between the British and French with both sides supported by various Native American tribes. The main idea of the French and Indian War was for control over North American territories between the British and the French. Both nations wanted to expand their empires and secure valuable resources which would lead to conflicts over land and trade routes. The war ultimately decided which European power would dominate the continent. The French and Indian War left Britain with a large debt leading them to tax the American colonies to help pay for it. This made the colonists upset about being taxed without representation which further made them desire thier independence.
