The Carolina War (20 dic 1832 anni – 4 gen 1834 anni)

In November of 1832, South Carolina declared that the Tariffs of 1828 and 1832 were unconstitutional and threatened to secede from the union unless they were removed.

South Carolina had hoped that the threat would be enough to convince the Union, however Andrew Jackson would threaten to invade the state in the case of such a secession.

South Carolina attempted to call Jackson's bluff and, hoping that the other southern nations would join them, declared independence on December 20th 1832, starting the First American Civil War.

Unfortunately for South Carolina, they had overestimated southern fellowship and saw no allies; however, a large portion of the south would remain neutral in the conflict, which allowed South Carolina to hold out until January of 1834, when the state government surrendered.
