Built a new capital at Beijing, which was enclosed by high walls and featured a great palace—called the Forbidden City—at its heart.The new capital symbolized the power of the Chinese empire and was located in the north to focus on ongoing Mongol threats.

Rebuilt the Great Wall of China along with later emperors. This switched the tactics from offense to defense.

Yong Le expanded China's influence overseas by
sponsoring voyages under Admiral Zheng He. Between 1405 and 1433, Zheng He led a large fleet on seven voyages to Southeast Asia, India, Arabia, and Africa to increase tribute to China.

It ended in 1430s.
