Zhu Yuanzhang brought down the Mongols and created the Ming Dynasty which means "brilliant." Scholar Officials were brought back into the society and the tax system was reformed. Land was distributed to the peasants.
Stability was brought into China but he ruled with an iron fist. He did bring back the scholars but were also suspicious of them, curving their power. He executed anyone he suspected of wrong doing. "In the morning I punish a few; by evening others commit the same crime. . . . Day and night I cannot rest. . . . To be a ruler is indeed difficult."
