Gorwynn grew being tutored by the regents and Céi Bater, the Arch-Sorcerer of Brythas Dynas. He largely listened to Céi Bater more than the regents, who he eventually grew to dislike. They attempted to pass several laws that required his permission, but he refused to cooperate in any occasion. He chose Céi Bater as the commander of the Cróganathair, and surrounded himself by them at all times to ensure his personal security. As he showed great magical and scholarly talent, Céi Bater taught him in the arcane arts, and Gorwynn grew to become the most powerful Druid of his time, allegedly matching Céi Bater's own magical abilities.

When he grew old enough to be crowned, he immediately dismissed all the regents. His early reign was tumultuous and plagued by instability, as he struggled to mend the rifts between Iorádhine nations and revitalize the Iorádhine economy, but by the middle of his reign he had been somewhat successful. His economic policies enforced freedom of trade between Iorádhine nations, his diplomatic missions to foreign lands secured profitable treaties of trade, and using such profits, he expanded the Cróganathair and secured a marriage with Agatha, the sister of Dalreánna, Duchess of Chathair.

Having returned economic growth and afterwards stability to western Iorádh, Gorwynn earned the loyalty of most western Iorádhine nations, and after building a royal merchant fleet to sail the Crystal Lake and enforce freedom of trade, Gorwynn also brought prosperity to the Crystal Lake, earning the love of its nations as well. Following this, he reinstated several taxes of both coin and troops for the nobility to pay, demanding a different kind of payment for each nation so as to not harm their economies, while bringing some funding back to the welfare of the common people. Most recently, he has funded the construction of royal roads of trade throughout the Iorináreth, to bring foreign trade to the inland regions of Iorádh.

Nevertheless, although he has mended most of the economic damage and greatly slowed the trend of decentralization, he still lacks the power to prevent the disloyal among the Thirty Nations from chipping away at the Emerald Throne's authority, and so he has resorted to mediating tensions between Iorádhine nations and overhauling the Iorináreth's bureaucracy, to both prevent internal conflicts and rule the slowly decentralizing Iorináreth more effectively.

Out of the five conflicts between nations that have erupted in his reign, he has so far failed to prevent only three, which he did succeed at quarantining and limiting to their respective regions. The two most recent have resulted in Iorádhine rulers loyal to him being victorious, allowing him to fully consolidate his power over most of western Iorádh, where his authority is felt most.

In the rest of Iorádh, his successful policies, diplomatic skill and reputation maintain peace despite his lesser authority there.
