Administration of Philip Nolan Vogt (D) (20 gen 1981 anni – 26 feb 1984 anni)
Descrizione:
Progressive social Democrat, former Senate Majority Whip and Senate Majority Leader Philip Nolan Vogt, seen as an architect of the Baxter New Society legislation won on a optimistic, reform-driven, and globally cooperative message. After 4 years of economic stagnation and international inconsistency, Vogt promised to restore faith in the economy and the government post-Byrd and stronger internationalist tone, especially after the Iran fallout. Picking Valerie Cooper, a veteran of the Cuban Invasion, as his running mate, he overcame the perception that his age would hold him back.
Progressive social Democrat Vogt won the election by a narrow margin, and commentators largely said more as a result of Republican failure than Democratic success. Vogt ran, with his VP Valerie Cooper, on a hawkish international policy, saying they would end the hostage crisis on day one. With relations in Russian thawing far faster than anyone expected, Vogt's credentials as a diplomat familiar with the Soviets was a plus. He passed a Universal basic Income bill soon into his first term, thanks to the landslide victory in Congress. However, his time in office was cut short when an aneurysm killed him during the first year of his second term of his presidency. He invested deeply into Green energy alternatives, and helped spur job creation. The federal government took over basic pension benefits, and strengthened the role in management for unions.
