The Toledo School of Translators (~1126 - ~1284) (1 gen 1126 anni – 1 gen 1284 anni)
Descrizione:
~1126 - ~1284 AD: The Toledo School of Translators was a group of Jewish, Christian and Muslim scholars in 12th and 13th century Toledo who translated numerous Islamic philosophical and scientific works. In the 12th century, they translated from Classical Arabic into Medieval Latin. In the 13th century, under King Alfonso X of Castile, they shifted to translating into Old Spanish. This transition helped establish the foundations of the Spanish language. After Alfonso's death, the school was dismantled and most of the team of translators soon left the city of Toledo.
