The Oslo Accords, signed in 1993, were a series of agreements between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) aimed at achieving peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. These accords established a framework for negotiations and outlined a process for the gradual transfer of governing authority to the Palestinians in parts of the occupied territories. They also laid the groundwork for the creation of the Palestinian Authority and outlined plans for interim self-government arrangements. Despite initial optimism, the Oslo Accords ultimately faced challenges and did not fully achieve their intended objectives of a comprehensive peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.
