In 1582, general Akechi murdered Nobunaga and captured his Azuchi castle.Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a general fighting for Nobunaga, reacted to Nobunaga's death quickly, defeated Akechi, and took over control for Nobunaga. Hideyoshi continued to eliminate any remaining rivals left.
