Mandatory Palestine (1 gen 1920 anni – 1 marzo 1948 anni)
Descrizione:
Mandatory Palestine existed from 1920 to 1948 under a League of Nations mandate, following the British and French division of Ottoman Syria post-World War I. Despite British promises for Arab independence, they facilitated Jewish immigration leading to tensions and conflict. Waves of Jewish immigration and rising Arab nationalism spurred violent uprisings. In 1947, the UN proposed partitioning Palestine into Arab and Jewish states, leading to war in 1948, dividing the territory among Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. The mandate, classified as a Class A Mandate, aimed at preparing the region for self-governance, was unique as it did not achieve independence by 1946 unlike others. The name "Palestine" was used officially in three languages, reflecting local and historical usage.
