The rule of the Qedarite Confederation over southern palestine (1 gen 553 anni a. C. – 1 gen 100 anni a. C.)
Descrizione:
The Qedarites were an ancient Arab tribal confederation centered in Dumat al-Jandal, Al-Jawf Province. Emerging around the 9th century BC, they expanded their territory from Transjordan to Babylonia during the 9th to 7th centuries BC. By the 6th to 5th centuries BC, they formed a kingdom stretching from the Nile Delta to Transjordan, covering southern Judea, the Negev, and the Sinai Peninsula.
Playing a significant role in the Levant and North Arabia, the Qedarites maintained relations with Canaanite and Aramaean states and participated in trade networks, notably in spices and aromatics. They interacted with Mesopotamian powers like the Neo-Assyrian and Neo-Babylonian empires and later became part of the Persian Achaemenid Empire. Associated with the Nabataeans, they may have eventually merged with them.
In Abrahamic scriptures, the Qedarites are depicted as descendants of Qedar, the second son of Ishmael, in the Hebrew Bible and the Quran. Islamic tradition suggests a lineage from Ishmael through Qedar to the Prophet Muhammad.
