The Vietnam War was a long war. It was a war of communism, that pitted North Vietnam against South Vietnam and the United States. More than 3 million people died in the war, and many of those people were Vietnamese civilians. The United States engaged in the war as a way to prevent the spread of communism. The U.S destroyed the jungle and the Viet Kong by using agent orange and napalm. One of the greatest effects of the Vietnam War was that people stopped trusting the government.
