An aging Daredevil is slowing down. Matthew Murdock more and more considers retiring the horned cowl and committing fully to practicing law.

The New York DA, following a scandal, resigns. Murdock runs for the vacant office in a special election.

Surviving a number of attempts on his life and foiling attempts on the lives of his friends, Murdock investigates the paper trails, following them back to Wilson Fisk.

Fisk kidnaps those close to Murdock, rigging them to bombs and planting them around the Kitchen. He fills the kitchen with hired thugs.

Daredevil fights through Hell’s Kitchen, rescuing the hostages but finding no sign of Foggy, Karen or Elektra, who has saved herself.

Daredevil tracks Foggy and Karen to a building populated by more henchmen and his rogues gallery for ten floors.

Fisk, via monitor, informs Daredevil that if he skips floors, the bombs go off. The ground floor contains a fifteen man paramilitary unit. Each floor above features a costume criminal. The only way to defuse the bombs is to stop the heart of his final obstacle.

Daredevil is severely wounded by one of the villains as he nears the final floor, but succeeds in defeating him.

Bleeding, with difficulty standing, Daredevil recalls the path to this moment as he climbs the final flight of stairs. Accepting that he may not walk out, but continuing on. To save his city. His family.

Daredevil faces the villain on the final floor, Bullseye. A short, brutal battle that ends when Bullseye is thrown from a window, defusing the bombs. Daredevil frees Foggy and Karen before collapsing, succumbing to his wounds, Matt dies surrounded by those closest to him.

Matt’s disappearance is investigated by the NYPD, who turn up nothing. Foggy runs in the next election for District Attorney and wins. A year after these events, Wilson Fisk is assassinated, presumably by rival underworld bosses.
