1. The Civil Rights Movement was caused by segregation for white Americans and black Americans.
2. A famous and pivotal event during the Movement was when a female named Rosa Parks was sitting on the bus, and when a white person wanted to take her seat, which was legally allowed, she denied him, and was consequently arrested. This encouraged more protesters to fight segregation.
3. In 1957, nine African American students came to their first day of school, and had to make their way through a crowd yelling at them and even throwing things. After getting to the door, they were stopped from going in and sent home. Their bravery helped proper education become possible for coloured people.
4. After a meeting with Martin Luther King Jr., President Kennedy wanted Congress to prohibit discrimination related to race, nationality and gender. He was assassinated, and the bill did not become law.
5. A man named Malcolm X established the Organisation of Afro-American Unity, and he believed that racism was the biggest enemy of African Americans. He was shot dead.
