War of the Spanish Succession (1 feb 1701 anni – 1 ottob 1714 anni)

Descrizione:

A war fought between France and an alliance of England, Prussia, Austria, and the Netherlands. The war started because Louis XIV had attempted to put his grandson on the empty Spanish throne. Other European powers went to war with him in order to maintain the balance of power. In the end, France had to give up territory, agree that France and Spain’s thrones would never be united, and England got Gibraltar and the right to trade slaves in the Atlantic.
