Born from the conflicts of the Rashidun era, the Umayyad family who reigned during this time would expand the Empire to its greatest size before defeats and revolts would ultimately lead to the end of its growth.

With vast riches at their disposal, the Umayyads would become some of the foremost patrons of art, philosophy and culture in the region.

The Dynasty would ultimately be overthrown in the Abbasid Revolution in 750 AD. Much of this came down to discontent from the Empire's Non-Arabs residents, who resented being treated with inferiority regardless of their conversion to Islam.
