Hundred Years War (1 gen 1337 anni – 1 gen 1453 anni)

Descrizione:

A series of French Kings die leaving French succession in a state of uncertainty.

Two main claimants to the French throne emerge: Philip de Valois the cousin of the last King of France and Edward III, King of England.

While Edward initially accepts Philip as King of France, he later uses this succession issue as an excuse to conquer lands and wealth in France.

The conflict went back and forth between which side was winning but ultimately a French victory in 1453 ensured English hopes for control over France were dashed.

"No king of England, if not king of France."- Henry V, William Shakespeare
