On the 15th of Feb, the Japanese took control of SG and renamed it to Synoan -To. The Japanese kept Syonan-To in their control using various methods such as meting out harsh punishments to the locals, carrying out operation Sook Ching, spreading propaganda to the locals and Imposing Japanese culture.

Daily life under the Japanese rule consisted with dealing with the new way of life imposed by the Japanese, dealing with shortage of resources due to rationing ( eg; food and other essentials), dealing with sickness and diseases caused from the poor health conditions at the time and constant relocations.

Leisure for the people in Syonan-To consisted of Radio programmes, movies, sports and cultural activities in Japanese.

Some locals collaborated iwht the Japanese and some locals showed resistance and joined resistance forces or anti-japanese activities.

On the 5th of September 1945, British and allied troops came back to Singapore. The Japanese surrendered Singapore and gave it back to the British on the 12th Of september 1945 as Japan got bombed by the U.S ( Little boy in Hiroshima- 6th august 1945 and Fat Man in Nagasaki- 0TH August 1945). The British Military Administration was setup on the 12th of August 1945. And the reopening of schools on the 19th of March was approved by the BMA. However, not everything was well. Sg faced post-war challenges such as food shortges, economic disruptions and economic difficulties.
