Descrizione:

Following the Golden Age came the Peloponnesian War (431–404 BC), a devastating war pitting one alliance of Greek city-states against another. As Athens had grown in influence and wealth, it be- gan to transform the Delian League into an Athenian empire. Sparta became alarmed over the commercial and political power Athens had acquired. The tension between these two rivals and their allies finally flamed into war.
