'The Experiment' is a point in the 8thLR where the regiment wanted to experiment with deposing of all its major companies in exchange for two fully infantry ones.

Overall, it was a disliked change that stagnated the regiment and heavily brought down people's opinion of Maggot, the new leader at the time.

Not only was this change important in this time, but Maggot's general unwillingness to both run the reg and allow his Officers to run the reg was also met with general distaste.

To say The Experiment failed is a bit of an understatement, the end of this period would see its replacement, in both structure and leadership.
