40/41 -The Mishna (Sotah 7:8) relates that King Agrippa I read passages of Deuteronomy in the synagogue on the 1st day of the Sukkoth festival, in the 8th year, at the end of the sabbatical year. This event could only have occurred when Agrippa began to rule over Judea after having been appointed by emperor Claudius (41-54), that is in 41. The 8th year being 41/42, the preceding sabbatical year was 40/41.
