Yalta Conference (6 feb 1945 anni – 11 feb 1945 anni)
Descrizione:
The Yalta Conference was a series of negotiations between Great Britain, the USA, and the Soviet Union. They were debating over what would happen post-war because the Allies' victory in Europe was inevitable. They were more worried though over what would happen in the Pacific. Japan was looking like it would hold for a long time and the United States and Britain were negotiating over the Soviet Union joining in the Pacific. The Soviet Union agreed to do this because the Allies promised them to give them a sphere of influence and Manchuria a Japanese territory at the time. They also negotiated what would happen with Germany and other places in Europe. They agreed that France should be included in these talks and also that Germans should be part of the rebuilding of Germany but not all. They also agreed that Poland could have communist leaders in their government. Many Americans were thankful for this agreement at first as they thought it would be the start of American and Soviet Union relationships but after the war, it was criticized as this relationship did not hold.
