Ole Romer (1 gen 1644 anni – 1 gen 1710 anni)

Descrizione:

Ole Romer was a Danish scientist whose most famous discovery was the calculation of the speed of light. This discovery was a big step not only in astronomy, but also in other parts of physics and science in general.
Romer was also the first to calculate the orbit of Jupiter and its moons. He observed the moons of Jupiter and noticed that the period of time between their passage behind Jupiter varied with the seasons. He suggested that this is due to the fact that the Earth is on different sides of the Sun at different times of the year, changing the distance to Jupiter.
