Descrizione:

The son of a church choirmaster in Estonia, began music studies at age 12. Enrolled in Moscow Conservatory at 21, and taught at schools in Tallinn while composing. He composed more than 200 choral works, many of which are sets of pieces grouped into cycles. He often incorporates folk songs into his compositions.
